Dental Health Week is the Australian Dental Association’s (ADA) annual oral health campaign. It normally takes place in the first week of August every year. In 2022, DHW will run from 1st to 7th of August.
The campaign emphasises the importance of caring for both the teeth andgums in order to help you keep the ‘teeth and smile for life’.
The 4 key campaign messages are-
- Brushing the teeth two times a day with a fluoridated toothpaste.
- Cleaning between the teeth daily using either a floss or interdentalbrushes.
- Eating a healthy, balanced diet and limiting sugar intake.
- Visiting your dentist regularly for oral exams and preventive care.
Current evidence goes to show that the health of the teeth and gums have a far greater reach than just your mouth, thereby having an effect on your overall health. Make this year’s goal to be healthy, beginning with your oral health. For more information on this campaign look up dentalhealthweek.com.au
