Denture

Dentures are commonly known as “false teeth”.

What is a denture?

If you have lost your natural teeth due to damage, decay or injury, dentures are one of the methods of replacement of your missing teeth and restoring your smile. Dentures can be taken out and put back in the mouth, and they are available as either full or partial dentures, depending on how many teeth need to be restored.

Why replace missing teeth with dentures?

Full Dentures

Replace all of the natural teeth in either the upper or lower jaws.

Partial Dentures

Fill in the spaces left by lost or missing teeth and replace a number of individual or grouped tooth spaces and associated structures of the same arch. They are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw. Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it prevents other teeth from changing position.

Immediate Dentures

It is inserted immediately after teeth are removed. Useful when you do not wish to wait several months for the healing process to complete so that the gums and bone stabilise. While immediate dentures offer the benefit of never having to be without your teeth, when teeth are removed the gums and bone may take up to three months to resorb and stabilise, causing the immediate denture to become loose. They must be relined several months after insertion, as the bone supporting the teeth reshapes as it heals.

Precision Attachment

It is a precision-machined male and female housing that connects a removable partial denture to fixed bridgework. The female part of the attachment is soldered to fixed crowns or bridgework and the male part is attached to the partial denture. The male is machined by the manufacturer to fit the female with an exact degree of accuracy. All of the precision attachments in a partial denture are positioned so that they are exactly parallel to each other. The aim of the precision attachment is to give the patient maximum comfort and ease while wearing, inserting or removing. Many people struggle to keep their dentures secure, particularly in the lower jaw and adhesives are often used to help with this problem. However, dentures can be retained with implants and precision attachments built into them, that fit more securely and reduces or even eliminates unnecessary movement during chewing and talking, which allows you to chew food more thoroughly without the embarrassment of slipping dentures.

Over Dentures

They are replacement teeth that rest directly on the existing teeth or attach to dental implants. They can be complete or partial and are patient removable appliances.
