Ways to pucker up for that kiss on Valentine’s Day

Jan 31, 2022

It is that month again! February, and you know what that means—it’s Valentine’s Day! You’re looking forward to a romantic evening with your special someone. From the “Kiss Me” messages on tiny candy hearts to romantic songs on the radio. Before cozying up to your loved one this year, make sure your oral health is in good order.

No one wants to kiss a mouth that has bad breath or dingy, stained teeth. Enjoy this special day with your significant other by using some of these useful tips –

Cavity Causing Bugs can be Contagious

Whether through kissing or something as simple as sharing a fork, bacteria can transfer from one person to another. Many of the bacteria can cause cavities or lead to gum infection. Remember to brush and floss your teeth for a cleaner healthier kiss.

Beware of Bad Breath

Bad breath can be pretty innocuous. It can be very hard to know if your own breath is bad. Brushing and flossing your teeth regularly and visiting your dentist on a regular basis helps to keep your breath smelling fresh .

Choose Your Chocolates Carefully

Stickier chocolates can result in more cavities! Dark chocolate is a better option, as it contains less sugar than milk chocolate. Also, a quality brand that is preferably 50% or more cocoa is a good choice as it is more pure and free of additives that can hurt your teeth.

Brighten Your Smile

Nothing is more attractive than a confident smile. Teeth whitening or veneers could be an answer. There are a number of over-the-counter whitening products, or you could get an in-office treatment at your dentist. Talk to your dentist about which option is best suited for you.

Don’t Forget About the Dentist!

Valentine’s day comes only once a year. But please do not forget to prepare for this exciting day by visiting your dental on a regular basis and avoiding a toothache or a heart ache on this much awaited day!
